This study is devoted to the ethnic changes during dualism. In the course of my research work, I attempted to map the functioning of the city in a complex way, to explore the aspects of its economic situation, administration, with special regard to the 16th Infantry Regiment of the city and the state of community standards. The focus of the study lays on the assimilation career of an intellectual. The diary and other personal sources of teacher and composer Vilmos Figusch (in Slovak Viliam Figu\u0161 Bystr\u00fd), are designed to show the adaptation of the contemporary intelligentsia to the all-time situation, but the study, besides of this, also shows the process of assimilation\u2013dissimilation within one generation.<\/p>\n
