The troops of Art\u00far G\u00f6rgei left Kom\u00e1rom on 13th July 1849, and significant military force remained under the leadership of the 28-year-old Gy\u00f6rgy Klapka gener\u00e1l. His task was to hold enemy for the possibly longest time with the protection of the fortress. He succeeded for ten days. Although on 23rd July Haynau Schlik gener\u00e1l directed his troops on Pest.<\/p>\n
After Schlik left, the castle-guard in Kom\u00e1rom did not fulfil its task. To keep the possible strongest emperor-king army under the castle, he should have worry the besiegers with systematic outbreaks. Although, nothing such happened. On 25th July one of the detachments of the castle guard descended the Tata Austrian local guard, and it was cleared up that the number of emperor-king troops does not exceed the number of castle guards and that the besiegers are entirely underestimated. At this point Klapka decided that he breaks the besieging troops. The situation of the Hungarians was eased by the fact that the emperor-king troops stayed on the both banks of the Duna, being apart\u00a0from each other, separated by Duna, V\u00e1g and other rivers and were not able to protect the attacked party.<\/p>\n
Firstly, Klapka wanted to expel the troops staying at the left bank of Duna. Here was the army the less weak, and expelling them meant that the Hung\u00e1ri\u00e1n army intends to continue its military operations on the northern bank of Duna. The attack commenced at night from 29th to 30th July. The troops of M\u00f3ric Kosztol\u00e1nyi colonel attacked the enemy at Het\u00e9ny that they had to retreat to Bajcs. Destroying enemy on the right bank of Duna seemed to be a more difficult task. The last victorious battle took place on 3rd August, the outbreak lead by Klapka. The operational pl\u00e1n included five columns. The commanders of the columns were Ferenc Aschermann, M\u00f3r Kosztol\u00e1nyi, J\u00e1nos Janik, B\u00f3dog B\u00e1tori-Sulcz, and J\u00f3zsef Kriv\u00e1csy. The Hung\u00e1ri\u00e1n outbreak had an immense success, the troops won after more than an hour of battle. Kom\u00e1rom was liberated from besiege. The Hung\u00e1ri\u00e1n troops cut the Austrian reinforcement lines and the rout to Vienna was opened. Food and other reserves for Kom\u00e1rom were secured afterwards.<\/p>\n
On 13th August the Hung\u00e1ri\u00e1n troops at Sz\u0151l\u0151s under Vil\u00e1gos I\u00e1id down the arms, although the Kom\u00e1rom castle with its protecting army consisting of more than 20 000 soldiers remained to 2nd October. The outbreak on 3rd August showed what the owning of the gigantic Kom\u00e1rom fortress system means. Victory played role in the fact that the protectors of Kom\u00e1rom dealt for change of their laying of the arms. the outbreak contributed to the fact that our town, Kom\u00e1rom is known by all Hungarians of the country as the protecting bastion of war of independence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
