1938 was a jubilee year in Czecho\u00adslo\u00adva\u00adkia – the 20th anniver\u00adsary of the repub\u00adlic\u2019s for\u00adma\u00adtion. Although, instead of cel\u00ade\u00adbra\u00adtion, the be\u00ading of not be\u00ading of the cen\u00adtral\u00adis\u00adtic Czechoslo\u00advak nation-s\u00adtate became the most basic issue of the year that is not be\u00ading arranged in the spir\u00adit of Masaryk\u2019s ideas. Final\u00adly the repub\u00adlic – although for great sac\u00adri\u00adfices – sur\u00advived the year \u201838, but it was only a ques\u00adtion of time when the flow of events sweeps it away. The nec\u00ades\u00adsary source of stud\u00adies of polit\u00adi\u00adcal his\u00adto\u00adry char\u00adac\u00adter deal\u00ading with the first Czechoslo\u00advak Repub\u00adlic are the results of the elec\u00adtions of the time that thanks to the con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adrary dem\u00ado\u00adcrat\u00adic arrange\u00adments and cor\u00adrect elec\u00adtoral sys\u00adtem served as a rel\u00ada\u00adtive\u00adly objec\u00adtive back\u00adground at the analy\u00adsis of polit\u00adi\u00adcal rela\u00adtion\u00adship\u00ads. Since the Czechoslo\u00advak polit\u00adi\u00adcal palette was rather struc\u00adtural, these results are per\u00adfect for assess\u00ading polit\u00adi\u00adcal con\u00advic\u00adtion of vot\u00ader\u00ads.<\/p>\n
The com\u00admu\u00adnal elec\u00adtions in \u201938 in the mid\u00addle of con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adrary intense polit\u00adi\u00adcal and nation\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty rela\u00adtion\u00adships (in the lack of Par\u00adlia\u00admen\u00adtary elec\u00adtion\u00ads) actu\u00adal\u00adly expressed the opin\u00adion of the pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion on the prog\u00adram of par\u00adties, and through this the rela\u00adtion\u00adship to the repub\u00adlic.
\nThe com\u00admu\u00adnal elec\u00adtions in 1938 were to 1990 the last elec\u00adtions in Czecho\u00adslo\u00adva\u00adkia that could be called demo\u00adc\u00adra\u00adt\u00adic, even though only one study deals with the events and results of the Slo\u00advak com\u00admu\u00adnal elec\u00adtions in \u201938 (Bystrick\u00fd 1992). This study tries to fills this gap, while it tries to ana\u00adlyze the process of elec\u00adtions and the results from the point of view of Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan minor\u00adi\u00adty peo\u00adple in Slo\u00adva\u00adki\u00ada.
\nBehind the good elec\u00adtoral result of the EMP the 20-year expe\u00adri\u00adence of Czecho\u00adslo\u00adva\u00adkia\u2019s exis\u00adtence of the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan minor\u00adi\u00adty vot\u00aders is to be seen. This expe\u00adri\u00adence caused that for the major\u00adi\u00adty of Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion the argu\u00adments \u2013 lack\u00ading some\u00adtimes dem\u00ada\u00adgogy and some\u00adtimes ration\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty \u2013 com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adcat\u00aded by the EMP were proved to be stronger argu\u00adments than that slo\u00adgans that had been con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous\u00adly demon\u00adstrat\u00aded (but not ful\u00adfilled) through two decades by gov\u00adern\u00adment par\u00adties.
\nThe con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adrary sources fre\u00adquent\u00adly ment\u00adion that psy\u00adcho\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal impact that the \u201ewhis\u00adper\u00ading pro\u00adpa\u00adgan\u00adda\u201c and through other tools the EMP and the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan revi\u00adsion organ\u00adi\u00adza\u00adtions exer\u00adcised on the pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion and that the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan party demon\u00adstrates as one of the rea\u00adson of such exten\u00adt. \nIn the autumn of 1938 nei\u00adther the gov\u00adern\u00adment in Bu\u00adda\u00adpest, nor the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan politi\u00adcians in Slo\u00adva\u00adkia could pre\u00adcise\u00adly judge the actu\u00adal\u00adi\u00adty of a pos\u00adsi\u00adble bor\u00adder revi\u00adsion. The aver\u00adage voter received even less infor\u00adma\u00adtion, and it is sure that from the suc\u00adcess of EMP bor\u00adder revi\u00adsion was not expect\u00aded, it was hoped that the minor\u00adi\u00adty issue in Czecho\u00adslo\u00adva\u00adkia will be arranged: the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adans will have iden\u00adti\u00adcal chances to get employed in state and pub\u00adlic sphere than the Czechs and Slo\u00advak\u00ads; land prop\u00ader\u00adty re\u00adform will be solved; the issue of the Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan lan\u00adguage usage will be solved etc. The Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan minor\u00adi\u00adty in Slo\u00adva\u00adkia in May and June 1938 voted Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan unity in these expec\u00adta\u00adtion\u00ads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
