Tuka is a con\u00adtro\u00adver\u00adsial fig\u00adure of the Slo\u00advak his\u00adto\u00adry. He was con\u00adsid\u00adered irre\u00adden\u00adtist, feel\u00ading with Hun\u00adgar\u00adi\u00adan\u00ads, but at the same time Slo\u00advak patri\u00adot, mar\u00adtyr, and the father of Slo\u00advak inde\u00adpen\u00addence, too.<\/p>\n
In his study pub\u00adlished on Jan\u00adu\u00adary 1, 1928 titled Vac\u00adu\u00adum iuris, he raised the exam\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtion of Czech and Slo\u00advak nation\u00adal polit\u00adi\u00adcal rela\u00adtion\u00adship. The Czech gov\u00adern\u00admen\u00adt, refer\u00adring to their sedi\u00adtious divi\u00adsive activ\u00adi\u00adty, and\/or that they made a mil\u00adi\u00adtary trea\u00adson (spied for Hun\u00adga\u00adry), begun a law\u00adsuit against it. On Octo\u00adber 6, 1929 he was sen\u00adtenced for 15 years impris\u00adon\u00admen\u00adt. The Czechoslo\u00advak Secret Serv\u00adic\u00ades had a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant role in con\u00addem\u00adna\u00adtion of Tuka that pro\u00advid\u00aded evi\u00addence against him, that could not be used dur\u00ading the law\u00adsuit, but the key wit\u00adness\u00ades were made to tes\u00adti\u00adfy.
\nIt is bewil\u00adder\u00ading that he could come back to pol\u00adi\u00adtic\u00ads, even if we know that the Ger\u00admans were on his side, and the chaot\u00adic polit\u00adi\u00adcal sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion before the Sec\u00adond World War played an impor\u00adtant role, too.
\nThe issue of Tuka\u2019s amnesty arose at the cen\u00adtral gov\u00adern\u00adment many times, and\/or with\u00adin the Slo\u00advak Peo\u00adple\u2019s Par\u00adty, although both par\u00adties want\u00aded to use it in the most con\u00adven\u00adient time. After mo\u00adre unsuc\u00adcess\u00adful try\u00adings meet\u00ading of in\u00adte\u00adrest was reached by the Pres\u00adi\u00adden\u00adtial elec\u00adtions in 1935.
\nEdvard Bene\u0161 could not be cer\u00adtain in his vic\u00adto\u00adry until the time when the Slo\u00advak Peo\u00adple\u2019s Par\u00adties of Hlin\u00adka type were behind him, and\/or the agrar\u00adi\u00adans wait\u00ading for the deci\u00adsions of the Peo\u00adple\u2019s Par\u00adty. One of the con\u00addi\u00adtions of the Peo\u00adple\u2019s Party was pro\u00advid\u00ading Tuka with amnesty that Bene\u0161 con\u00adnect\u00aded with a con\u00adfes\u00adsion.
\nTuka wrote his con\u00adfes\u00adsion at the Pankr\u00e1c prison in Prague, and sent it to Bene\u0161, who was the Min\u00adis\u00adter of For\u00adeign Affairs at that time, in April 1935. In the doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adt, he con\u00adfessed his anti-s\u00adtate, sub\u00adver\u00adsive activ\u00adi\u00adty, although he reject\u00aded mil\u00adi\u00adtary betray\u00adal.
\nAfter Bene\u0161 became Pres\u00adi\u00adden\u00adt, he did not for\u00adget his promise, although Tuka\u2019s amnesty had an influ\u00aden\u00adtial oppo\u00adnen\u00adt. The Min\u00adis\u00adter of Jus\u00adtice, who was of Slo\u00advak orig\u00adin, Ivan D\u00e9r\u00ader, did not want to free Tuka, and at the same time he want\u00aded to resist the impact of the press made by the Peo\u00adple\u2019s Par\u00adty.
\nIn May 1937 D\u00e9r\u00ader, in medi\u00ada\u00adtion of Bene\u0161, was will\u00ading to dis\u00adcuss on amnesty. Its mean\u00ading was that Tuka can spend the remain\u00ading time of his pun\u00adish\u00adment on con\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal release, liv\u00ading at a flat assigned for him, under con\u00adstant super\u00advi\u00adsion.
\nIn June 1937 Tuka was trans\u00adferred from the Pankr\u00e1c in Prague to the Bory in Plze\u00f2. He worked as the prison\u2019s librar\u00adi\u00adan, accord\u00ading to other sources he was also employed as typ\u00adist at the dis\u00adtrict court. The peri\u00adod spent in Plze\u00f2 was peace\u00adful, his wife was enabled to be with him and it was allowed to him to pro\u00advide sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adic work. Although, the peace\u00adful peri\u00adod soon end\u00aded.
