(The Collection of P\u00e9ter L\u00e1z\u00e1r and the Folklore Fellows in Eger, 1913\u20131914)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Roman Catholic priest P\u00e9ter L\u00e1z\u00e1r (1893\u20131942), as a student, in the years 1913 and 1914 carried out a collection of folk poetry in his native village of Nagyt\u00e1rk\u00e1ny. The framework of this activity had been provided by a national programme lasting several years. The collection starting in 1912 was organized by the Hungarian Ethnographical Society and the Hungarian Department of Folklore Fellows among secondary school and university students. The winning project of P\u00e9ter L\u00e1z\u00e1r has been preserved in an excellent condition in two handwritten booklets of 301 pages, and can be found in the Ethnological Archives of the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest. The beautiful handwritten, orderly collection classified according to theme and genre, contains folk songs, ballades, description of customs and folk beliefs, as well as texts of children\u00b4s folklore. In addition to materials of Nagyt\u00e1rk\u00e1ny, the manuscript has included texts from further municipalities too, such as from Keresztesp\u00fcsp\u00f6ki, Eger, Par\u00e1d, Ajak and V\u00e1s\u00e1rosnam\u00e9ny. The publication entitled <em>Nagyt\u00e1rk\u00e1nyi n\u00e9pk\u00f6lt\u00e9si gy\u0171jtem\u00e9ny<\/em> (English: A Collection of Folk Poetry of Nagyt\u00e1rk\u00e1ny) is an equivalent critical edition of the entire manuscript. The introductory study presents the story of the collection and the biography of P\u00e9ter L\u00e1z\u00e1r.
