One part of linÂguists still conÂsidÂer sciÂence of names to be an auxÂilÂiary sciÂence. Although the majorÂiÂty of sciÂenÂtist of sciÂence of names – as well as the study’s author – has difÂferÂent opinÂion on it. In the first part of the study the author introÂduces its creÂation and subÂject as a sciÂence with its own prinÂciÂples. The secÂond part of the study takes into conÂsidÂerÂaÂtion the maÂin conÂtact points of name geogÂraÂphy and name geogÂraÂphy. The closÂing chapÂter of the study sumÂmarisÂes that expeÂriÂence that should be taken into conÂsidÂerÂaÂtion accordÂing to the author at the planÂning of sciÂence of names research in SloÂvaÂkiÂa.
The curÂrent subÂject of sciÂence of names is the propÂer name itself. Although, heÂre immeÂdiÂatÂly the defÂiÂniÂtion of propÂer names causÂes probÂlemÂs. There is still a conÂflict in conÂnecÂtion with what we conÂsidÂer propÂer nounÂs, in laÂtin nomen proÂpriÂum. FurÂther obstaÂcles of conÂcepÂtion defÂiÂniÂtion is that well-Âknown fact that some lanÂguages difÂferÂentÂly judge cerÂtain catÂeÂgories. For examÂple, in HunÂgarÂiÂan lanÂguage holÂiÂdays and cerÂtain memoÂriÂal days are not conÂsidÂered propÂer names. On the conÂtrary, RussÂian does. In SloÂvak the names of peoÂple of difÂferÂent nations are conÂsidÂered as propÂer names. And we can even conÂtinÂue in it.
The defÂiÂniÂtion of lanÂguage geogÂraÂphy is to be defined in a moÂre narÂrow and wider sense. AccordÂing to the wider interÂpreÂtaÂtion includes conÂnecÂtion on the level of lanÂguage terÂriÂtoÂries and the examÂiÂnaÂtion of lanÂguage areas as well. AccordÂing to the moÂre narÂrow interÂpreÂtaÂtion it deals only with the clasÂsiÂfiÂcaÂtion of dialectÂs. LanÂguage geogÂraÂphy research from the point of view of sciÂence hisÂtoÂry origÂiÂnate in dialecÂticÂs. The iniÂtial researchÂes have been changed to goal-oriÂentÂed researchÂes.
